December Favourites, Hauls + A Wrap-Up

Happy December Everybody!!!

How have you guys been? I hope you all had a very merry Christmas and/or a happy Hannukah- if you don’t celebrate any of these I hope you had a great holiday and I’m wishing you an early happy new year! December for me was filled with adventures, happiness, and joy. I definitely had an improving reading month, I received lots of books and gained lots of new favorite things! Tell me about your December month in the comments and link your December favorites, wrap-ups and hauls as well!

bookish wrap-up

I am pretty happy with the books I’ve read this month! In fact, I am currently reading We Come Apart by Sarah Crossan and Brian Conaghan and I think I can finish it by the end of the month, which means I would have read four books. Although it doesn’t sound like much, that is so much better than by last few reading months, where I was in a constant state of frenzy and bookish slug. Here are the books I read this month!

The Light That Gets Lost by Natasha Carthew ★★☆☆☆

Stealing Snow by Danielle Paige★★★★☆
The Edge of Everything by Jeff Giles ★★★☆☆
We Come Apart by Sarah Crossan and Brian Conaghan

book haul!

So as the holidays are approaching, I got some books from publishers and bought some books for myself to read! I hauled these books:

The Light That Gets Lost by Natasha Carthew
We Come Apart by Sarah Crossan and Brian Conaghan
The Edge of Everything by Jeff Giles
The Book Thief by Marcus Zuzak
Freeks by Amanda Hocking
The Iron Trial by Holly Black and Cassandra Clare
December/January Frankie Magazine

Volunteering

Early this month and late last month, I was lucky enough to get to go volunteering all around my city and it was such an unforgettable experience. I’m still young and that usually means organizations are less likely to take me on board as a volunteer but I finally had a chance to give back to my community. I cooked in soup kitchens, made little Christmas ornaments, sorted clothes and packed necessity bags, all around different communities. The feeling you get from volunteering is indescribable because not only are you supporting those in need, you are gaining new skills and friendships. I feel so blessed to live what I believe is a good life and I have always wanted to give back to the community, which is why I am so glad I had the chance to volunteer at so many charities this month and last month!

Kool & Co Candles

This month I also received these adorable candles from Kool & Co. I got one in Coconut and an Ariel-inspired scent. I love the smell and I also really like the fact that they are 100% soy-based which makes it better for your nose! I can’t wait to burn these candles during the winter! Here is a link to their shop!

Bella Boxes + Perfume

I also received the Bella Box, which is a monthly beauty subscription service. You can check out my review to that here!  I also got this VS Coconut Passion perfume spray. I got it a really good price and I couldn’t resist, I am so picky when it comes to perfume smells but I have a weak spot for anything that smells like vanilla, coconut or caramel. I love the smell of the spray and I am so glad I bought it!

Succulents +  Teas

I also got this adorable little succulent plant as a Christmas present! It’s fake because I literally can’t keep any plant alive 🙂 I use it as room decor and it just hangs from the roof of my room! I also got some French Earl Grey Tea from T2 for Christmas. I am actually not a huge fan of tea- I only like green tea and peppermint but I am trying to get into it. Hopefully, I’ll brew some of it up soon!

That’s all from me! I can’t wait to dive into some of the books I received this month! It’s the end of 2016 and I can’t wait to welcome to the new year! I hope you all had a great Christmas and don’t forget to tell me what you received and hauled this December, as well as link your December wrap-ups, favourites and hauls down below!

Early Christmas Present… Bella Box Unboxing and Review!

fotorcreated

Hello! Hello! Hello!

The other day, I opened the door and to my delight, a box full of goodies arrived on my step: The Bella Box. I couldn’t be any more excited. My first ever subscription box and I couldn’t be any more satisfied with what I received. For those who have never heard of Bella Box subscription service, it is an Australian monthly box subscription service that delivers five or more beauty and lifestyle products and samples to your doorstep. You can then trial and use the products and if you find a product you really like you can buy the product from their website here.  Bella Boxes are normally $18 per box but I have a special link that can let you guys receive your first Bella box for $10. Check it out here!

dsc_0282_fotor

When you first open the box this is what it looks like. This month’s box was brown rather than its usual blue but that is due to the size of the products. I love how unique the packaging is. The Bella Box logo is placed all around the cardboard box and the black tissue paper is a simple yet nice touch to the design of the package. I do wish I could see the blue box packaging. In addition, I was given a personalized message in the box which was such a nice personal touch. I also received card with a list and description of the products featured in the box. The card included the theme of this month’s box which was “Summer Glow”, the price of the products and where to buy the products.

the products:

Overall, I’m very happy with the products that Bella Box provided. They were all good quality and reputable products that were easy to use. The price is definitely worth it as you are given not only samples but also actual full sized products. There were some emerging brand products in the box, such as gilded cage as well as some famous products, such as Revlon. All the products in this month’s box are things that I love and would definitely use.

Left: Revlon Prodessional Uniq One Hair Treatment Right: Gilded Cage Charisma LIpgloss
Left: Revlon Professional Uniq One Hair Treatment Right: Gilded Cage Charisma Lipgloss
Left: Sunsense Daily Face SPF 50+ Invisible Tint Right: Cetaphil Dermacontrol Oil-Control Foam Wash

Left: Pure Paw Paw Ointment Right: Palmer's Coconut Oil Formul aBody Lotion and Avon Life Her EDP Spray
Left: Pure Paw Paw Ointment Right: Palmer’s Coconut Oil Formula Body Lotion and Avon Life Her EDP Spray

These were products that were in my box. A 7-day fitness guide was also in my box! My favorite products are the Gilded Cage Charisma Lipgloss, the Revlon Professional Hair Treatment and the Pure Paw Paw Ointment, I can definitely see myself using these products in the future. Overall, I am impressed by the number of products they gave me. With seventeen dollars, I could never see myself buying so many products and so it definitely is worth the price. I actually really love this box and I highly recommend it for anyone who is a fan of beauty products or is looking for a good Christmas present because this box is definitely worth the hype and price. Hopefully, I will get another one of these boxes in the future.

The Dream Interview

fotorcreated231

Hello! Hello! Hello!

dsc_0267_fotorI think it is every fangirl/fanboy’s dream to interview their favourite author or book character.  If you are anything like me who lives far far away from any famous young adult authors, you would know the pain of wanting to meet and interview authors. One day will come where I get to meet my favourite authors and go to a book festival but for now,I just have to dream… To spice things up this week, I decided to share with you, my take on the perfect interview panel with five book characters and authors and a burning question I have for each of them! I also decided to tag some people down below to share their dream panel of authors and book characters!

feyre from sarah j. maas’ a court of thorns and roses

If you have read this amazing series you would also be dying to meet Feyre! She is a girl who isn’t afraid to stand up and do what she loves, which is why I respect and admire her character so much. The depth to her characters makes Feyre seem so realistic. I want to ask her everything from Tamlin to Rhysand to her family! I can’t wait to read the rest of this series!

question: Describe what the night court feels and looks like?

anna from anna and the french kiss

I adore Stephanie Perkins’ novels and Anna and The French Kiss is definitely my favourite, I love how each story is cute and cheesy but the story lines and the characters are so fresh and unique! Anna’s character is one of the most relatable ones out of all of them and I would love to interview her character.

question: What is one tip you have for meeting friends and settling in when you are studying abroad?

khalid from the wrath and the dawn

If you haven’t read The Wrath and The Dawn, I do not know what you are doing because it is one of my favourite duologies! I know it is based on a classic that I have yet to read but each character in the series has so much depth and magic. Khalid is one of my favourite characters in the series because he has so much depth!

question: What does it feel like to live with a curse like the on you had?

dsc_0208_fotorjenny han, author of to all the boys i’ve loved before

I WOULD LOVE TO INTERVIEW JENNY HAN! I love the way Jenny Han represents Asian characters in young-adult novels, as an Asian, I feel under-represented in the YA genre but almost all of Jenny Han’s stories and novels has an Asian character who is lovable and so relatable! That’s why she is one of my favourite authors.

question: Do you have any insider secrets about your new book, Always and Forever, Lara Jean?

cassandra clare, author of the shadowhunter chronicles

I would never go through a favourite authors post without talking about Cassandra Clare which is why I would be more than honoured to receive the chance to meet and interview her in a panel! Her novels are the ones that caused my love of reading! I have a never ending list of questions (*grabs scroll of paper with interview questions and rolls it out*)

question: Which character was the best to write about?

So this was my dream panel of authors and book characters! I would love to interview these authors one day and I am dying to tick it off my bucket list! Eventbrite, which is one of the largest ticketing platforms, recently reached out to me to write this post. Thank you guys! 🙂  If you ever need help with organizing conferences or finding other conferences check out their page here!

what is your dream panel of authors and book characters?

Habits and Changes I’ve Made To Kickstart A Good 2017

dhqiwq

Hello! Hello! Hello!

I haven’t talked to you guys in what feels like ages and I am so very sorry! I had exams and the school year was overwhelming filled with back to back activities and I couldn’t find the time to sit down and blog about my life.

Anyway because I have only just gotten back into reading because of a busy few months, I decided to post something a bit more “lifestyle” like. I was thinking about things I have done lately and there are a few things changes and habits I’ve begun to hopefully make me a happier, healthier and more motivated person. I felt like there were just somethings this year that have left me with a lot of negativity and bad vibes. However I want to change that before 2017 years so I can make 2017 the best year. I thought I would just shre these things with you in this post!

What are somethings you do to make you a healthier, happier and more motivated person?

screen-shot-2016-11-09-at-05-34-10bullet journalling

Never in a million years would I have imagined myself spending the time every week to bullet journal but I do not regret starting this habit. I love bullet journal- it is not only calming but gives you a sense of achievement. There is just something about sitting down and planning what is coming up, what you have done in the past week and organising your daily habits and goals. I love how bullet journalling is not just like a diary you can personalise it to suit you and it also is a way to shine your personality. The satisfaction you get from flicking through your journal is indescribable. Hopefully I’ll be able to keep this habit until next year!

we heart itscreen-shot-2016-11-09-at-05-34-10-2

I know you must be thinking:How is We Heart It supposed to make you a more motivated person? but hear me out. I love hearting photos that just make me happy. There are so many photos out there on we heart it that leave you with a since of wanderlust, excitement, adventure and pleasure. Keeping the photos you like on a canvas makes it easier for you to look back on them and realise the goals you want in your life. The photos I all heart are things and ideas I want to be able to tick off my bucket list and taking the time to heart these photos every day makes me a more motivated person.

motivational videos

I recently found this youtube channel called Motivation Grid and I am addicted to their videos. Usually I hate cheesy videos and articles but these videos are magic they leave you with this really great sense of determination that makes you feel like you can conquer anything. If I ever feel down or in need for motivation I will watch on of these videos! If you ever find the time to watch a good video you have to check out this youtube channel.

elevate brain training

Elevate brain training is basically this app that enables you to train your brain every day with three fun mini games. I love using this everday because not only does it leave you with a sense of satisfaction you also get to play a bunch of mini games whilst training your brain. I know the science behind daily brain training is controversial but I guess there is no harm in trying it out. Its free and easy to join as well!

There are just some of the little changes and habits I’ve added to my life to make me a more positive and motivated person! What are some good habits you have?

PS: Stayed tuned for my book reviews and other exciting posts I have up because I have just finished exams and school! 🙂

“Spring Is In The Air” Spring Reads

fotorcreated1

Hello!!

I haven’t talked to you guys in what feels like ages. I guess you could say I was taking a little bit of a break. These past few months have been quite busy and the next few months will be busy as well but I’m going to try my best to read as much as I can. I was also in a reading slump which didn’t help much with my motivation but I’m starting to gain it back!

Although it may be Fall in many other places in the world, it is spring where I am and because of that, I decided that it would be a good idea to share with you three books I’m going to read this spring as well as recommend two books that remind me of spring. For me, spring is one of those beautiful and blissful months, I feel love and romance in the air as well as something blooming like flowers. Contemporaries are a perfect fit for spring reads because they are filled with romance, highlight the blooming of something new and are usually beautifully written. Many of the books I’m going to mention today are contemporaries for this very reason.

what i want to read this spring:

I want to read so many adorable, romance contemporaries this spring because they always fill me with so much happiness and positivity. There is just something so satisfying about the wistful and heart fluttering feeling after you finish a contemporary. Here are three books I want to read this spring:

Have you read these books? What do you want to read this month?

my two spring read recommendations

I have so many spring recommendations and it would take me an eternity to list all of my recommendations. Here are two recommendations for a good spring read:

dsc_0035_fotorTo All The Boys I’ve Loved Before | Jenny Han

There is no way I would have skipped this novel because this novel literally screams spring. It’s adorable and fills my heart with joy. I love the storyline and the characters are so relatable. It is the perfect spring read!

My Life Next Door | Huntley Fitzpatrick

This romantic contemporary also reminds me of the romance filled atmosphere that spring brings. This story is a whirlwind of an adventure. I love reading about the romance between the two characters and there is just something about this contemporary that makes it one of my favourites.

These are some of my favourite spring reads and some books I’m planning to read this month! Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!

“Caramels + an contemporary” Teaser Tuesdays | August 16th

jij'

HIYA!!

How is everyone? Today I am finally back with a Teaser Tuesday as I know I haven’t done one in ages. I love updating you guys with my last finds and my current read. As I mentioned a while ago, I have fallen into a reading slump but I’m trying to curb that this week as I haven’t really received much homework. What have you guys been reading lately? Anyway, I’m currently reading:

caramel hearts by e. r. murray

DSC_0315_Fotor

I’m currently reading this adorable contemporary titled, Caramel Hearts, which is by E.R. Murray. I haven’t really gotten into the book yet as I only just started it but based on the blurb it sounds adorable. I am hoping that it won’t be too immature because I’m getting “Everything, Everything” vibes! However, it is a romance and I need a good break from fantasy:

“I spin on my head and head down the corridors towards Science, pretending I can’t hear Sarah when she calls my name,”
– Caramel Hearts, E.R. Murray

what do you think? have you read caramel hearts? don’t forget to let me know about your current read down below!

July Obsessions and August Excitement

 dqkwq

Currently feeling: extremely motivated

sayonara july

Okay so maybe July hasn’t been the best of months. First of all, the winter has been icy cold which has caused me to feel like a freezing block of ice. My self-confidence has been wavering in and out this whole month, which has caused a lack of motivation in many different things, including reading and blogging. I know I mentioned this a little in my previous monthly wrap-up but this month I really felt my lack of motivation and enthusiasm weighing in. To me, everything felt like a blur because I felt like I was going through the same routine every day. However this month I’ve learnt a fair few lessons in life and because of that I decided to write a post on it which will be out soon! 🙂 How has your July been?

obsessions:

Music:

Has anyone else realised that there are no good songs on the radio lately? Ugh. It’s so annoying because I love listening to the radio but there is never a good song. Nevertheless, I have to resort to my Spotify (not that that’s a bad thing)! Here are my latest favourite tracks!

Healthy Cooking:

I’ve been “healthy-cooking” for a long time now but I’ve only just realised how much fun it is to create something that is guilt-free. I love cooking healthy muffins and cookies and in the morning one of my favourite things to cook are healthy pancakes and oatmeal. Oh and let’s not forget smoothies and toasts. I think it is safe to say that breakfast is now my absolute favourite meal because I love getting up in the morning and cooking something that is simple, delicious and healthy.

For lunches, salads and rice bowls have been a go-to for me. I have to try to cook my lunches so that they are still fresh and delicious during lunchtime.

Film Photography

This semester I took up a photography elective but it isn’t about the normal digital photography. Instead, we have been working with film photography and it is surprisingly a lot of fun. I’ve been taking a trip back in time with one of my best friends and we have been shooting with an old film camera. I was born around the time film photography was starting to get less and less popular, which means I haven’t had a chance to use a film camera. I would love to show you how the photos have turned out but unfortunately, we are still processing the photos. When I get the photos I’ll try to share some with you guys.

reading updates

DSC_0357_Fotor

*inserts a large photo of the embarrassed monkey* I haven’t been reading much and it has been frustrating me so much. I’m still reading The Girl From Everywhere! I think it has been because I’ve been lately recently but also I’ll confess: Gossip Girl has captured my attention. It is just so so good! I honestly just want to devour the whole entire show so I can know what is next. My heart feels like it has been on a roller coaster with this TV show! With August comes new releases and the moment Beauty of Darkness comes out I will hole myself up in my room to read it. I’m also going to a Rainbow Rowell and David Leviathan event with some of my good friends and hopefully, that will get me in a motivated reading mood.

august excitement

It’s getting to that time of the year where even though, everything will be so hectic, you know that it’ll be the best few months of the year. I am so so excited for the things I have planned in August. Next weekend I’m going to the Selena Gomez Revival Tour with my best friend and words can not describe my eagerness. I’ve never been to a concert and to know that I’m going to one of my favourite artist’s concert with my best friend is the most exciting thing ever! Alongside that, I’m also going to be doing some exciting excursions and experience weeks with the school which is something I always look forward too.

book #tbr:

I did recently write a post on my TBR but I thought I would specify some of the books I want to read this month:

I hope you guys had a great July and an even better August? What have been some of your obsessions in July?

“Time Traveling + Hyped Releases” Teaser Tuesdays

jij'

Hiya!!!

I have not done a single Teaser Tuesdays in a hundred years and so today I decided to due a Teaser Tuesday!!! It is the second week of school and everything is actually going great. Well…except for a few things here and there but overall everything has been pretty cruisy! What have you guys been up to recently? I’m currently reading:

the girl from everywhere by heidi heilig

I recently got this novel and although I am not that far into the book, I have been loving it! The main character is so likeable and I love the concept of the novel. I haven’t read many time travel novels and I am sure this book will be a time-travel that I will be recommending. However, I can not jump to conclusions yet! I do know that this novel has been hyped up since its release and so far I think it has been living up to my expectations. Here is a little teaser of the novel:

“My thoughts scattered like chipped ice, and my vision blackened at the edges, as though I was staring through a spyglass,”
– The Girl From Everywhere, Heidi Heilig

what are you reading this week? have you read the girl from everywhere?

June Obsessions and July Excitement

 Screen Shot 2016-07-17 at 05.34.10

Yes, I am writing this on the fifteenth of July even though this post should have been scheduled on the first of July. Sorry 🙂

sayonara june

June has been a very ordinary, yet exciting month. I was greatly disappointed due to the fact that I hadn’t read much at all in the month of June but I was also super excited for the holidays. Despite the fact that school was dragging along slowly when the holidays finally arrived I couldn’t contain my excitement, especially because we were going away. I visited many different places and it felt like such a relief to have the pressure of school lifted off of my shoulders. However, school has started again and I am so not ready but nevertheless, I am going to try to make this term a good one. Also, last month I took a few breaks with blogging and it felt nice to take a break but that still doesn’t excuse the fact that I love blogging and instagraming, which is why I’ll be posting lots more soon! Here are some of my favourites from last month:

Obsessions:

Here are some of my recent obsessions!

Music :

I have been obsessed with Often by Kygo and of course, Shawn Mendes’ new song Treat You Better! I have literally been playing them on repeat and I can not get enough! I have been really loving I Heart Radio recently. Instead of playing my spotify playlist, sometimes I’ll put on a hit music station from the website. I’ve been loving the LA I Heart Radio Hits Station the most.

Gossip Girl:

I only just started this show, so no spoilers, please! I watch TV shows awfully slow and although I started this show two months ago I’m only on season two. I try to watch it when I have spare time but the drama and gossip in this TV show is so so good. It may sound weird that I enjoy watching people gossip about others but this TV show is honestly one big web of interlocking events that has kept me so entertained!

Shopping

Well…I’ve always had an obsession with shopping but because I have been shopping a lot lately, I thought why not add it to my obsessions list? I’m more of a summer girl and so lately I have been lots buying of summer dresses, some sweatshirts and bags. I recently visited this mall, which was huge! I spent nearly two days there shopping and I still haven’t visited every store in the mall. I bought heaps of stuff there and I can’t wait to wear and use them .

june reads + book hauls

As I mentioned earlier June was a disappointing reading month. I only read a few books, which include Rebel Of The Sands, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Last Star and The Leaving. Hopefully, July will be much more exciting in terms of books and I can’t wait to dive into some good books. Here are some of the books I got this month:

DSC_0313_FotorThe Last Star by Rick Yancey (The 5th Wave #3)
Blood In The Beginning by Kim Falconer (Ava Sykes Series)
When Michael Met Mina by Randa Abdel-Fattah
The Girl From Everywhere by Heide Heilig
Rebel Of The Sands by Alwyn Hamilton
To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee
Caramel Hearts by E. R. Murray

july goals

Here are some of goals for this month:
– To workout more intensively and for more periods of time, as well as eating a proper healthy diet.
– To actually work on my blog and Instagram more seriously and with a proper effort and attitude. (*cough* as you can see that didn’t really happen for the first half of the month but there are still 16 more days)
– Write some more lifestyle posts!
– To balance most things in my life, especially the reading facet of my life. This brings me to my next point my July TBR.

july tbr:

Caramel Hearts by E.R. Murray
The Blood In The Beginning by Kim Falconer
The Girl From Everywhere by Heide Heilig
Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover

Yay! So this is my June + July wrap-up and TBR! List some books you want to read this month, so I can add it to my own TBR! What have been your recent obsessions?
