Overall Rating:  8/10
Genre: Adventure, Thriller, Action, Fantasy, Romance

After seeing Stealing Snow plastered on Instagram pages and after letting the novel sit on my bookshelf for what seems like ages, I decided to give the novel a go. I hadn’t read any reviews on the book before hand and the moment I opened the book, I knew I would highly enjoy this novel. Despite the raging negative reviews, I’m going to keep to my opinion and say I LOVED THIS BOOK. It’s hard to find a good fantasy romance these days and this novel definitely satisfied my craving for one.

Stealing Snow starts off with a scene that left me questioning the main character- Snow. I wanted to know who she is, I wanted to know who Bale is and I wanted to know what was going to happen next. When I discovered that she was in a mental facility I was expecting Paige to pull a Vanishing Girls move on the novel in which the Snow Kingdom was all part of her imagination but I was proven wrong. I think a big part of why people didn’t like the novel was because of the similarities between Stealing Snow and Frozen but, to be honest, I thought this novel was better. I love how Paige takes this idea of a snow kingdom and snow powers and warps it into something that is more suited to a teenage audience. I found myself falling in love with the story line.

At times, Snow did get on my nerves but I enjoyed watching her grow as a person. I loved seeing how she dealt with being in a mental facility and how she was dealing with the information about her family. Some of her reckless decisions did cause me to cringe but there was something about her character I really enjoyed reading about. I think part of it was my interest in her history. The plot twists really hit me, I was definitely not expecting some of them. *SPOILER ALERT* Her secret twin sister and her backstabbing mother, are just two of the many examples of the plot twists that rocked me over the edge.

There was definitely one thing that was a flaw in this novel- the love square. NEVER in my life had I ever read a story in which the character had not one, not two but THREE love interests. In my opinion, I thought it was a little unbelievable and overwhelming. Whilst she was saving her poor, beloved Bale, she was kissing Kai and the chemistry between her and Jagger was insane. I didn’t really like this component to the story because it made the book seem less real and three-dimensional which was a shame. Hopefully, this clears up in the later books but just to clarify I’m leaning towards #TEAMKAI!

Overall, I highly enjoyed this novel and if you are craving a good fantasy definitely check this out. I have never read a book quite like this and I loved the mashup of the mental facility and the fantasy world. I have so many unanswered questions about the characters and story swimming around in my head. I can not wait to read the next book in the series.

The Kiss Of Deception by Mary E. Pearson! I’ve heard so much about this novel and I thought it was about time to read it. It’s part of a series titled, The Remnant Chronicles. Its beautifully written and is one of those novels where the main character lives in an alternate universe with kingdoms, magic and hierarchy.  I only just started but I’m so excited to get into it, I have high hopes! Also, I hate to judge a book by its cover but the cover is so pretty!

“A soldier with a sugar-coated tongue and an angelic face, but a heart as black as night,”
