Blue and white have always been my favourite colours and so when I saw this blue and white playsuit in the store, I had to buy it. The weather has been crazy lately- it’s been freezing cold some days and extremely hot on others. Luckily, when I took these shots the sun was shining brightly. I also paired this playsuit with some silver aviator sunglasses!
To kick off the beginning of my new blog, I thought I would do something simple but insightful! I’ve always been one to spend time scrolling through the app store and the internet for the most useful apps. Whether it be calendars, to daily planners to mindful apps, there are just so many useful apps out there that I can use to my advantage. Here are a few of my favourite lifestyle and productivity apps I use almost every day!
Peak is a really good app for brain training. I do a training session a day and it helps you to exercise the cognitive, thinking and motor functions of your brain. Every day you do three mini games and it will measure your ability every day compared to yourself and other people using the app! It’s a great little exercise to do every morning to refresh your mind and get it into productivity mode!
Duolingo is a classic but it’s one of my absolute favourite apps. It has such a cute interface and Duo, your mentor, keeps you motivated. If you haven’t heard of Duolingo before, it is basically an app which allows you to learn a wide range of languages. I use it to practice and keep ahead in German. I’ve also used it to learn Spanish. The lessons are really structured and easy to use. It’s so much fun to use and I highly recommend it if you learn a language or want to learn something new!
Loop is one of my favourite mindful games. It’s a fairly simple game where you are given to game options. You can either play the option where your goal is to connect all the lines together to form a shape or you can play the other option where you must unconnect all the pieces. I prefer the latter option and I use it to calm down or whenever I’m feeling really fidgety. I love the simple and calming interface of the app.
Tide is my favourite app for focusing. Tide is a really aesthetic and minimalistic app that enables you to time your concentration in 30-minute intervals. It has a feature which allows you to block all distractions on your phone and locks you into the app for the focusing session. In addition, you can also play some white / background noise, such as rain and mellow noises. I use it a lot when I’m studying for a test or an oral.
They say that you are what you eat… I’ve been really motivated lately to eat healthier and exercise more often! Lifesum is a really useful app to keep track your exercise and caloric intake. I’m really bad with keeping a well-rounded diet, so when I track what I eat I can see which food groups I need to eat more of and which I need to eat less of. I can also see how much water I’m drinking and what type of exercise I’ve been doing. It’s a really clean, engaging and simple app to help you keep track of your healthy lifestyle!
I haven’t blogged in what feels like a decade. I guess you could say that I went on a mini-hiatus. I ran out of motivation, inspiration and time to work on my blog- it even came to the point where blogging became a chore and to me, I felt like I had crossed a line. I’ve been blogging for almost two years and the last thing I wanted was for blogging to become a chore I dreaded.
That’s how I realised something needed to change, I needed to do something that would make me happier and more motivated, which leads me to my news. If you’ve been following me on Instagram, you may have noticed little changes here and there. I’ve changed my username, my blog URL and the content I post. Ever since mid-last year, I realised my blog’s topic was restricting. I felt obliged to only post book-related content, nothing about myself, my life or my personal hobbies and I wanted more than anything to change my blog’s name and content into something more person and lifestyle-related.
I spent month after month contemplating whether or not to change my blog into a lifestyle blog. One day, my friend and I were talking about my blog and she told me something along the lines of, “Change nothing and nothing changes.” That’s when all my worries cleared out of my head. I spent so long worrying about whether or not people would be interested in my lifestyle content that I was too scared of change. That night, I did it, without my doubtful thoughts, and changed my username. I posted a long caption, telling everybody of the change that was going to happen: I was going to change my blog and Instagram into something more personal. Two weeks later and here I am telling you of this mini-project of changing my blog and I couldn’t be any more proud and happier.
I did it! I changed my blog and my Instagram to By Alicia Grace. I changed my blog’s theme completely, I changed all more social media accounts, I changed my pages, my Instagram username, my Instagram photo content and much more. I’ve worked pretty hard to change my blog into something that I’m more proud of and soon I’ll be sharing more exciting content. Don’t think that I’m just going to be sharing just lifestyle, travel and fashion posts because books still hold a dear place in my heart and they’ll still be more book posts. I’ve also gotten some new collaborations with brands that I can’t wait to share with you guys! Now I’m back more motivated than ever to share with you, my passion not just for books but for anything else I am passionate about. I can share with you, my love for fashion and travel and any other precious moments that happen in my life.
Now I’m back more motivated than ever to share with you, my passion not just for books but for anything else I am passionate about. I can’t wait to share with you, my love for fashion and travel and any other precious moments that happen in my life. That’s my exciting news! I’ve been loving all of your support on Instagram and I couldn’t be any more grateful for all of you!
The other day, I opened the door and to my delight, a box full of goodies arrived on my step: The Bella Box. I couldn’t be any more excited. My first ever subscription box and I couldn’t be any more satisfied with what I received. For those who have never heard of Bella Box subscription service, it is an Australian monthly box subscription service that delivers five or more beauty and lifestyle products and samples to your doorstep. You can then trial and use the products and if you find a product you really like you can buy the product from their website here. Bella Boxes are normally $18 per box but I have a special link that can let you guys receive your first Bella box for $10. Check it out here!
When you first open the box this is what it looks like. This month’s box was brown rather than its usual blue but that is due to the size of the products. I love how unique the packaging is. The Bella Box logo is placed all around the cardboard box and the black tissue paper is a simple yet nice touch to the design of the package. I do wish I could see the blue box packaging. In addition, I was given a personalized message in the box which was such a nice personal touch. I also received card with a list and description of the products featured in the box. The card included the theme of this month’s box which was “Summer Glow”, the price of the products and where to buy the products.
Overall, I’m very happy with the products that Bella Box provided. They were all good quality and reputable products that were easy to use. The price is definitely worth it as you are given not only samples but also actual full sized products. There were some emerging brand products in the box, such as gilded cage as well as some famous products, such as Revlon. All the products in this month’s box are things that I love and would definitely use.
These were products that were in my box. A 7-day fitness guide was also in my box! My favorite products are the Gilded Cage Charisma Lipgloss, the Revlon Professional Hair Treatment and the Pure Paw Paw Ointment, I can definitely see myself using these products in the future. Overall, I am impressed by the number of products they gave me. With seventeen dollars, I could never see myself buying so many products and so it definitely is worth the price. I actually really love this box and I highly recommend it for anyone who is a fan of beauty products or is looking for a good Christmas present because this box is definitely worth the hype and price. Hopefully, I will get another one of these boxes in the future.
That’s all for my Bella Box review. Thank you so much to Bella Box for sending me the box and don’t forget to use my coupon link: http://bit.ly/2hLCB2D to check out the product! What do you think- will you be getting the Bella Box anytime soon?
I received Bella Box from Bella Box Aust., in exchange for a review. Please note that this does not alter, influence or change my opinions on the box, in this post.
I haven’t talked to you guys in what feels like ages and I am so very sorry! I had exams and the school year was overwhelming filled with back to back activities and I couldn’t find the time to sit down and blog about my life.
Anyway because I have only just gotten back into reading because of a busy few months, I decided to post something a bit more “lifestyle” like. I was thinking about things I have done lately and there are a few things changes and habits I’ve begun to hopefully make me a happier, healthier and more motivated person. I felt like there were just somethings this year that have left me with a lot of negativity and bad vibes. However I want to change that before 2017 years so I can make 2017 the best year. I thought I would just shre these things with you in this post!
What are somethings you do to make you a healthier, happier and more motivated person?
Never in a million years would I have imagined myself spending the time every week to bullet journal but I do not regret starting this habit. I love bullet journal- it is not only calming but gives you a sense of achievement. There is just something about sitting down and planning what is coming up, what you have done in the past week and organising your daily habits and goals. I love how bullet journalling is not just like a diary you can personalise it to suit you and it also is a way to shine your personality. The satisfaction you get from flicking through your journal is indescribable. Hopefully I’ll be able to keep this habit until next year!
we heart it
I know you must be thinking:How is We Heart It supposed to make you a more motivated person? but hear me out. I love hearting photos that just make me happy. There are so many photos out there on we heart it that leave you with a since of wanderlust, excitement, adventure and pleasure. Keeping the photos you like on a canvas makes it easier for you to look back on them and realise the goals you want in your life. The photos I all heart are things and ideas I want to be able to tick off my bucket list and taking the time to heart these photos every day makes me a more motivated person.
I recently found this youtube channel called Motivation Grid and I am addicted to their videos. Usually I hate cheesy videos and articles but these videos are magic they leave you with this really great sense of determination that makes you feel like you can conquer anything. If I ever feel down or in need for motivation I will watch on of these videos! If you ever find the time to watch a good video you have to check out this youtube channel.
elevate brain training
Elevate brain training is basically this app that enables you to train your brain every day with three fun mini games. I love using this everday because not only does it leave you with a sense of satisfaction you also get to play a bunch of mini games whilst training your brain. I know the science behind daily brain training is controversial but I guess there is no harm in trying it out. Its free and easy to join as well!
There are just some of the little changes and habits I’ve added to my life to make me a more positive and motivated person! What are some good habits you have?
PS: Stayed tuned for my book reviews and other exciting posts I have up because I have just finished exams and school! 🙂
Organisation is key: It may seem super simple but one thing that can change your mood and positivity is your organisation. I’ve been really trying to utilise my planner lately and although, I still have a fair bit of practice before I master my journal it is safe to say that writing to-do lists and taking five minutes out of your day to plan and organise your life is a serious benefit. Using my planner in the last three weeks of the month has felt like I’ve removed a heavy burden off of my shoulders. The next step is to start a bullet journal but knowing my “perfectionist-mentality” I don’t know if it’ll go so well.
Your happiness and attitude are only determined by one thing- yourself: Before you think, “She is such a cheesy person,” hear me out. This might sound super simple but I think getting caught up with our busy lives often causes us to forget to take some time out of the day to enjoy yourself. To put it into context, I go to school every day and whilst everyone is complaining about going through this regime for the next three years of our lives, it is really easy to fall into the same trap. I definitely fell into this trap last month and it was definitely not healthy. I dreaded going to school. However, recently I’ve been trying to change this outlook because why should I dread school? I should be so grateful for this chance to go to school, to enjoy being with my friends and just having an overall warm atmosphere.
Don’t let bad news + failures get to you: Something I still need to work out til this day and something I will probably struggle with for a very long time, but it’s something that I’m improving on bit by bit. However at the start of the term I would always feel horrible after hearing even the littlest of bad news and that definitely did not do me any favours what so ever. I expected the worse in everything and nothing could make me feel better even if the failure/bad news wasn’t really that bad. It was getting to me and it was getting worse and worse. However, I’ve soon realised that there is no point in letting bad news get to you because you are only ever wasting your time to dwell on the past when you should be investing your time into the future.
Stop forcing yourself to do things you don’t like and just learn to say no: I wish I figured this out sooner but I’ve just realise how important this is. You may think that forcing yourself to do something you don’t like is just a part of every day life but if you have the choice to quit…quit. I recently joined a sports team that I normally join every year and every year I dreaded signing up, going to the training and the competitions. Don’t get me wrong I adore sport but when it came to this sport, it gave me all kinds of motivation and I just remeber feeling horrible the day I had training because I knew I would be wasting more than an hour doing something I didn’t like. So, I quit. I asked to leave the team and although they were disappointed they understood. The whole time I dreaded the coaches reactions when I said I would quit but when I said no their reactions weren’t as bad as I thought.
favourite songs to put me in a motivational mood:
watch this video to put you in a motivational mood, trust me this video is amazing:
Hopefully, I didn’t make this post too cheesy and have instead motivated you to do things. I know that my blogging routine hasn’t been the best this month but I’m trying my best to get some exciting posts out and updating myself with all of your blogs.
Yes, I am writing this on the fifteenth of July even though this post should have been scheduled on the first of July. Sorry 🙂
June has been a very ordinary, yet exciting month. I was greatly disappointed due to the fact that I hadn’t read much at all in the month of June but I was also super excited for the holidays. Despite the fact that school was dragging along slowly when the holidays finally arrived I couldn’t contain my excitement, especially because we were going away. I visited many different places and it felt like such a relief to have the pressure of school lifted off of my shoulders. However, school has started again and I am so not ready but nevertheless, I am going to try to make this term a good one. Also, last month I took a few breaks with blogging and it felt nice to take a break but that still doesn’t excuse the fact that I love blogging and instagraming, which is why I’ll be posting lots more soon! Here are some of my favourites from last month:
Here are some of my recent obsessions!
I have been obsessed with Often by Kygo and of course, Shawn Mendes’ new song Treat You Better! I have literally been playing them on repeat and I can not get enough! I have been really loving I Heart Radio recently. Instead of playing my spotify playlist, sometimes I’ll put on a hit music station from the website. I’ve been loving the LA I Heart Radio Hits Station the most.
I only just started this show, so no spoilers, please! I watch TV shows awfully slow and although I started this show two months ago I’m only on season two. I try to watch it when I have spare time but the drama and gossip in this TV show is so so good. It may sound weird that I enjoy watching people gossip about others but this TV show is honestly one big web of interlocking events that has kept me so entertained!
Well…I’ve always had an obsession with shopping but because I have been shopping a lot lately, I thought why not add it to my obsessions list? I’m more of a summer girl and so lately I have been lots buying of summer dresses, some sweatshirts and bags. I recently visited this mall, which was huge! I spent nearly two days there shopping and I still haven’t visited every store in the mall. I bought heaps of stuff there and I can’t wait to wear and use them .
june reads + book hauls
As I mentioned earlier June was a disappointing reading month. I only read a few books, which include Rebel Of The Sands, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Last Star and The Leaving. Hopefully, July will be much more exciting in terms of books and I can’t wait to dive into some good books. Here are some of the books I got this month:
The Last Star by Rick Yancey (The 5th Wave #3)
Blood In The Beginning by Kim Falconer (Ava Sykes Series)
When Michael Met Mina by Randa Abdel-Fattah
The Girl From Everywhere by Heide Heilig
Rebel Of The Sands by Alwyn Hamilton
To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee
Caramel Hearts by E. R. Murray
Here are some of goals for this month:
– To workout more intensively and for more periods of time, as well as eating a proper healthy diet.
– To actually work on my blog and Instagram more seriously and with a proper effort and attitude. (*cough* as you can see that didn’t really happen for the first half of the month but there are still 16 more days)
– Write some more lifestyle posts!
– To balance most things in my life, especially the reading facet of my life. This brings me to my next point my July TBR.
Caramel Hearts by E.R. Murray
The Blood In The Beginning by Kim Falconer
The Girl From Everywhere by Heide Heilig
Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover
Yay! So this is my June + July wrap-up and TBR! List some books you want to read this month, so I can add it to my own TBR! What have been your recent obsessions?
This is my first lifestyle/fashion post but as a teenager of the 21st century, I adore shopping. No, I mean I seriously have an addiction. I hope I’m not the only one. 🙂 I love shopping for clothes and books too but this post is primarily going to be about shopping for clothes because who doesn’t like to go on an all out shopping spree? As a dedicated shopping enthusiast, one of the things that make me extremely happy whilst I’m shopping is finding and buying discounted clothes, which are normally expensive. I am all about the Black Friday and Boxing Day sales because who wouldn’t want to pay heavily discounted clothing that is good quality and looks amazing. However, I know that we don’t have sales every day and sometimes we really want to buy something but it’s way too expensive. So, today I decided to give you my top two tips on how to save your money when it comes to shopping.
If there was a literal angel for shopping, Unidays would be it. Unidays is basically an app and website in which students, from both university and school can sign up to receive amazing discounts from good brands. If you click the link in the photo, you can sign up to the platform. What’s really good about Unidays is the fact that the discounts are from well-known brands, such as, Boohoo, Apple, The Iconic and ASOS. It also doesn’t just have fashion discounts. It’s a great platform overall for students who want to find student discounts. Not only that but whenever you recommend someone to the platform you can get store credit. This post may have been prompted by the people at
Not only that but whenever you recommend someone to the platform you can get store credit. This post may have been prompted by the people at Unidays but I wouldn’t share something with you guys if I thought it was bad. I’ve been using Unidays for a while and I love it, it’s really handy to use whenever your shopping because all you have to do is whip out your phone and you’ll get the discounts. It’s definitely a handy thing to have when you are shopping online or in stores.
sales and outlets
You know that saying “Good things come to those who wait,” it definitely applies to shopping. Sometimes we see a new release dress and buy it immediately but two weeks later you discover that it goes on sale. I hate it when that happens and I know it may seem pretty obvious but sometimes if you just wait for a few more weeks, the t-shirt you wanted will often go on sale or you may even find another t-shirt that looks exactly like it from another store at a better price. Another tip that stems from this one is shopping at outlets. Outlets are heaven for shopping fashionistas. Outlets are basically a mall for famous brands in which the clothes come from the direct warehouse. Therefore, often you can find the clothes for cheaper prices or you may even be able to find clothes that they no longer sell in your everyday shop. I have so many stories about the amazing clothes I find at outlets but here is one of the. So, for a very long time I was been looking for Nike Roshes for ages and after months of searching, I could never find the right pair and they were just too expensive. One day, I decided to go shopping at an outlet and I found the perfect pair of Nikes at a discounted price. I couldn’t believe my eyes, it was pretty amazing. I got the perfect pair of Nikes at an amazing rate. Do you guys have any amazing shopping stories?
I hope you guys enjoyed this! Definitely, let me know if you guys have any shopping hacks! If you like these lifestyle posts, every once in a while let me know because I love writing these!
